Word of the Gay: "Twinkle Toes"

"Twinkle toes" is a term used to describe a feminine man who is gay or perceived to be. It is an insult, used to disparage men who are considered "light in the loafers".

It actually started, in the early 20th century, as a disparaging term for a ballet dancer who overused certain steps and then evolved, by the 60s, into simply meaning 'a good dancer' or 'light on one's feet'. Hell, Fred Flinstone's bowling shirt had "Twinkle Toes" written on it.
